Although it has been a turbulent year for the family, the show seems to have been just what the family needed to finally come back together. (video below)

The Khans have gathered every night to watch the show and support Khan through the challenges.

In the video captioned at home with the Khans filmed by BBC North West, when asked what it is like to watch Khan in the jungle, Khan’s father said: ‘You know something it’s like when he goes in fights, honestly it’s tense because if he gets picked for a challenge we want to see.’

‘And we hope he does well and we’re always on the edge of our seats.’

Faryal said: ‘We were so happy to see him on TV and go on the show because we want people to see the real Amir that we know.’

‘On TV it’s what you really see of him and he’s just that humble, sweet guy.’

The show has seemed to bring the family closer after a year full of cheating allegations which resulted in Khan announcing a divorce from his wife, just two months ago.

Khan had accused Faryal of cheating on him with fellow boxer Anthony Joshua.

He said in a Snapchat video on 8 September: ‘So me and Faryal are not together. I have filed for a divorce.

‘I hear she has just announced she is pregnant. She didn’t tell me. I had to read it on social media.’

Earlier in the year Faryal accused Khan’s parents of bullying her for not being a good Muslim.

Khan’s father Shah said she was ‘adopting a dress code which in the Islamic faith was not acceptable’.

Faryal also accused Khan’s sister of cropping her out of family photos and throwing a remote control at her.
